For the second year in a row, the Northern Cambria Powering Pittsburgh team, Kilo-WATT, competed against all the Western Pennsylvania Intermediate Unit winners in the Championship round on Nov. 8. The team was crowned champions again this school year. The students were recognized at a Pittsburgh Steelers game. During the game they were presented a $3,000 check on the field that was donated to the school's TSA chapter. Team members include (from left): Ben Carpinello, Mike Konitsky, Alivia Yahner and Alyssa Yahner under the direction of Matt and Sarah Kline. Their project was to find alternate ways to power Acrisure Stadium and the city of Pittsburgh. Their design concepts included parking lot solar panels, traffic vertical axis wind turbines and bicycle generators that could produce green, renewable energy.
