ClearWater Conservancy’s Art & Chocolate fundraiser returns for its 28th year, bringing together conservation supporters, local artists, small businesses, bakers, chocolatiers and craftspeople for an evening that celebrates creativity, community, and the natural world. The event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at 3 Dots Downtown, State College.The event is free to attend, and guests may pre-purchase a “Super Sweet” ticket (not required), which includes an exclusive box of chocolate and sweet treats crafted by local chefs. The Mount Aloysius College Theatre Department is hosting an unforgettable evening of Broadway music, featuring acclaimed New York performer Janelle Farias Sando, as well as current theatre students and alumni at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6. The event celebrates the strength and transformative power of the arts, while also honoring the legacy of Mount theatre alum, Tim Michrina. The performance will take place in historic Alumni Hall on the Mount Aloysius College campus. Rail City Curling will offer a Learn to Curl event at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15 at the North Central Recreation Center Ice Skating Rink in Ebensburg. Learn to Curl events welcome both first time and returning curlers alike. The East Broad Top Railroad will operate Winter Train Excursions beginning Saturday, Feb. 21, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience the railroad during the winter season.
Running on Saturdays through April 25, the Winter Excursions provide a quieter, more relaxed way to enjoy the historic railroad and the winter scenery of the Aughwick Valley. These rides follow the Winter Spectacular and carry the season directly into the start of Easter on the Rails.
Unlike peak-season operations, Winter Excursions focus on peaceful views, a slower pace, and an uncrowded experience, making them ideal for families, rail enthusiasts, and visitors looking to explore the East Broad Top during the off-season.
Each excursion highlights the railroad’s history, and landscape. Departure times are 10:30 a.m. and noon. With limited Saturday departures, advance ticket purchases are strongly recommended. Tickets and additional information are available at eastbroadtop.com.
