Downtown Bedford, Inc. is excited to announce the second annual Spice & Ice Crawl, taking place Jan. 16, 17, and 18. The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (SAMA) is continuing its tradition of celebrating talented young artists in local communities and schools. This year is their 28th year of celebrating and promoting Artists of the 21st Century. Young artists from a multitude of schools and school districts around Altoona, Bedford, Ligonier and Johnstown. Juried awards will be given to students in grades 9th through the 12th at each SAMA location’s Exhibition Celebration. SAMA invites the public to four exhibitions, beginning with Johnstown from Jan. 17 through March 22, Exhibition Celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 31. Altoona’s exhibition will begin Jan. 30 and run through April 2, 2026 with the Exhibition from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 7. Bedford’s exhibition will run from Feb. 13 to April 26 with the Exhibition Celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 21, 2026 and Ligonier will run from Feb. 13 to April 19 with the Exhibition Celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. March 7, 2026. Greenwood Furnace State Park, 15795 Greenwood Road, Huntingdon, will hold Snowfest and Polar Plunge from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17. From 12:30 to 2:30, stop by Pavilion #4 for activities with PA Game Commission and DCNR Education Staff and watch Bike Demos by Rothrock Outfitters. The 5-Miler Run and Bonfire on the Beach will both begin at 1 p.m.. Enjoy music by Matt Marsden in the warming hut from 1 to 2 p.m., and Smokey will be featured at 2:30. Tired of crafting alone? Crafternoon is held from 1 to 3 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art Altoona. In this free event, crafters of all mediums are invited to bring their current craft to the museum and work on it with other like-minded artists. Preschool Storytime and Craft Hour for young art enthusiasts and their families is held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art Altoona. This event is ideal for ages 3-6 and children must be accompanied by an adult. The event is free; no registration required.
