The Blair County Branch of the NAACP 2252 will hold its annual Freedom Fund Gala on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Heritage Discovery Center, 1421 12th Ave., Altoona.
Doors open at 3 p.m., with the event running from 4 to 8 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear semi-formal attire as they gather for an evening of inspiration, recognition, and unity.
This year’s Gala will spotlight local leaders, youth advocates, and unsung heroes whose work uplifts the values of equity, education, and cultural preservation. Guests will enjoy live performances, a catered dinner, and a powerful program that reflects the NAACP’s enduring mission to advance civil rights and foster intergenerational engagement.

The Community Arts Center of Cambria County will hold its 55th Holly Bazaar, a multifaceted holiday celebration that runs now through Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. The Community Arts Center will be open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. during the Holly Bazaar.
The Holly Bazaar, located in the Goldhaber-Fend Fine Arts Center’s gallery and M. Josephine Paul Family Museum, features handcrafted items from over 80 local craftsmen and artisans. The Holly Bazaar will also feature the Community Arts Center’s annual Holiday Candy and Nut sale.
Other areas of the Holly Bazaar include the 24th Basket Bonanza, which runs from Nov.. 8-Dec. 14. This gives visitors a chance to win over 120 baskets donated by the Community Arts Center’s members, friends and local businesses.
Additionally, CACCC presents the Festival of the Trees, featuring five trees designed and created by local artists. These one-of-a-kind trees are part of a silent auction between Nov. 8 and Dec. 14.

The Mount Aloysius College Theatre Department will perform the heartwarming children’s musical “The Perfect Dog” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 20-21 and 10:30 a.m. Nov. 22 in Alumni Hall.
“The show details the concept that no one is perfect, and how chasing perfection can make you miserable,” said Mount Aloysius theatre Director Dan Evers. “I genuinely believe now, more than ever, we need to practice compassion and empathy; something everyone needs.”
The Mount’s production of “The Perfect Dog” is focused heavily on helping animals from shelters and seeking out loving homes for them. Proceeds from the show will go to the Central PA Humane Society and Mending Hearts Organization. The department will also accept physical donations from the two organizations’ wish lists, available on their websites. An adoption event with both organizations will be held directly after the performance on Nov. 22.
Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. The cast will be performing a preview performance for Blacklick Elementary, All Saints Catholic School, and the MAC Learning Center’s Pre-K Counts.

A Motown Christmas is a powerful family-oriented show combining Motown’s greatest hits with everyone’s favorite holiday classics. This show features those famous Motown trademarks — dazzling choreography and unforgettable harmonies all performed in that memorable, soulful Motown style.
Pittsburgh-based rock band Punchline will return to Blair County for the first time in 17 years, to perform on Saturday, Nov. 29, in Liberty Hall in the U.S. Hotel in Hollidaysburg. This show is in support of the release of their new album Somewhere To Land, which is available everywhere for listening and streaming, including on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Bandcamp.
