Vox Nova to perform today at Mount
CRESSON -- Vox Nova, Mount Aloysius College's student choir, will perform "Bravo Broadway!" at 7 p.m. today in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel on campus.
Some of the songs featured come from musicals such as "The Sound of Music," "Godspell" and "Little Shop of Horrors." Members of the community and are invited to take part in this night of theatrical music.
Donations are requested, but not required.
Bash to aid Cambria humane society
JOHNSTOWN -- The Humane Society of Cambria County's biggest fundraiser of the year, the annual Claws & Paws Cash Bash, will return this weekend after a year hiatus due to COVID-19. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Richland Fire Hall.
For a $20 donation, individuals can attend the event, enjoy dinner, dessert and beverages, and qualify for cash prizes. New this year, for a $10 donation, individuals can qualify for cash prizes without attending the event.
All proceeds raised at the Claws & Paws Cash Bash will directly benefit the shelter. Cash prizes will total more than $1,000.
In addition to cash prizes, guests will have the chance to win 50/50 drawings, qualifying pull tab winnings, baskets, gift certificates, a lottery frame, tickets to see some of their favorite Pittsburgh teams like the Steelers and Penguins and more. Dinner, dessert and beverages are also included in the evening.
A pasta dinner with salad and rolls will be provided by Capri Pizza, cupcakes, cookies, nut rolls and more will be provided by Custom Cakes and Cookies, Ashley Zindash, and other anonymous donors, and beverages will include Michelob Ultra, Yuengling and soft drinks.
The doors will open at 6 p.m., and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Organizers will select a $100 winner every 15 minutes starting at 7 p.m. and a grand prize $500 winner will be awarded at 9 p.m.

Health, welfare council to meet via Zoom
The Blair County Health and Welfare Council will meet from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, via a Zoom meeting.
Aimee Burns, executive director of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Blair County, will speak about the history and scope of her office and the programs it currently provides.
The Blair County Health and Welfare Council provides education and information to the public on health and human service needs, services and resources. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting.

Brewers to help in fight against cancer
JOHNSTOWN -- On Sunday, Nov. 21, the Stone Bridge Brewing Co. is teaming up with Levity Brewing and Noble Stein Brewing for an event to benefit Brandi Hammers' cancer battle.
The event will take place at Stone Bridge Brewing Co., 104 Franklin St., and will feature entertainment from Flowerchild. Tickets are $42 and can be purchased online at stonebridge.beer under the fundraiser tab. Admission gets participants two hours of Flowerchild, all the craft beer you can drink from SBBC, Levity and Noble Stein and great food.
Hammers, a Johnstown resident, has donated countless hours to the restoration, maintenance and promotion of the Lorain/Stonycreek Hiking Trails.
"She's given so much to the community," says Jeremy Shearer. "Now the community is coming together to help in her fight against cancer." If you're unable to attend the event but still want to help, a GoFundMe has been set up under "Help the Hammers family." The Stone Bridge Brewing Co. is accepting baskets and items for the raffle.
