The Cresson Public Library has announced its schedule of programs and activities for November.
Pop-Up Craft Days: Children can stop by the library on Tuesday, Nov. 17, to make do-it-yourself crafts. All materials and instructions will be provided at a table in the children's section.
Politics at the Holiday Table? How Will It Go?: Professor Robert Schrauf of Penn State will lead a discussion exploring linguistics, language and relationships during the holiday season. Participants are invited to bring examples of good, bad or funny conversations that might arise around the holiday dinner table for discussion. The program, part of the Let's Talk About It: Conversations Among Citizens series, will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 14.
Story Stitchers Sewing Club: The Story Stitchers Sewing Club will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the library. The meeting time has been changed because of the Thanksgiving holiday. The club typically meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. Anyone who can thread a needle is welcome to participate. For information about past or current projects, call the library at 814-886-2619.
Pawsome Reading Program: Children can read to therapy dogs during the Pawsome Reading Program from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21. Therapy dog handlers will begin by reading a story, followed by an opportunity for children to read to the dogs. Children who have not yet learned to read can look through a picture book and make up a story to share. Reading to animals can help improve reading fluency, accuracy and comprehension while building motivation and confidence.
Story Time and Activity Hour: Story Time and Activity Hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28.
Holiday Closings: The library will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day, and Thursday, Nov. 26, for Thanksgiving.
