Lakemont Lions Club members are asking the local community to support vision issues during White Cane Days this weekend. Lakemont Lions will be collecting monetary contributions at Hollidaysburg Hometown Market from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10.
Those unable to get to the collection site during those hours can mail a check or money order, made payable to "Lakemont Lions Club," to the Club at 301 Union Avenue No. 325, Altoona, PA 16602. Those doing so are asked to add "White Cane Days" at the check's memo line.
Last year's White Cane Days proceeds allowed the club to symbolically adopt a puppy that was being raised to become a Leader Dog for the Blind.
