George and Martha Washington will visit Fort Roberdeau on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Following the photo-op from 5:30 to 6 p.m., General George Washington will inspect "The Lead Mine Fort" and respond to General Daniel Roberdeau's letter about Fort Roberdeau. Their presentation is titled "Events Surrounding the Declaration of Independence."
George and Martha Washington are depicted by Bill and Cara Elder. The Elders are both retired teachers after 40 years in education in both Pennsylvania and Florida. They are historians- first-person interpreters of George and Martha Washington and have been doing interpretations for 23 years.
In addition to doing educational programming across the country, Bill and Cara have contributed to living history events at Mt. Vernon, Valley Forge, Philadelphia, Colonial Williamsburg, Princeton Battlefield, Hope Lodge, The Living History Park and Paoli.
Admission is free. Donations are welcome and encouraged.
