Eighteen local artists have transformed the boarded-up windows of the former Gables Building in downtown Altoona. Now that the art display is complete, residents and visitors are being asked to vote for their favorite.
Votes will be accepted Sept. 4-13 online only at AltoonaMirror.com/AltoonaMuralContest. The contest page includes photos of each mural, but the community is urged to visit the downtown area to see the art in person.
All online voters will be entered into a random drawing for the chance to win a $500+ prize package that features gift cards from downtown Altoona businesses.
The artist who receives the most online votes will win a $1,000 prize. Another $1,000 prize will be presented to the artist whose mural was selected by an independent panel of judges composed of local professional artists.
The link for online voters to choose the People's Choice winner will go live Friday, Sept. 4.
