The Rotary Club of Altoona presented grants totaling $14,750 to nine local organizations during its meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 1. The funding was made possible through proceeds raised earlier this year from the club's annual Grapes for Good fundraiser.
The grants will support a variety of programs and initiatives that benefit residents throughout Blair County and surrounding communities.
Organizations receiving grants include:
n Fort Roberdeau Foundation -- $2,500 for printed maps and informational brochures
n Big Brothers Big Sisters -- $1,500 to support family outings in August and September
n Blair Emergency Services Chaplain Platoon -- $500 for mobile counseling services
n Blair Regional YMCA -- $2,500 to provide free swim lessons for children in Altoona
n Young Life -- $1,500 for camp scholarships
n Altoona Community Theatre -- $1,500 to support the Penguin Project
n Blair County Arts Foundation -- $1,500 for Family Theatre programming
n Center for Community Action -- $3,000 for the Mountain Lion Backpack Program
n Women's Club of Blair County -- $250 for community planting projects
Grapes for Good is one of the Rotary Club of Altoona's signature fundraising events, bringing together community members and local supporters while raising funds that are reinvested into impactful local initiatives.
