On Aug. 13, the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg marked the formal opening and dedication of the reconstructed Newry Street entrance to the Health Care Center.
The new covered gateway improves accessibility for all individuals going into and exiting the building. It includes an area for socializing and observing or participating in neighborhood activity.
Guests were welcomed by Heather Loucks, PVH executive director , who gave a brief presentation concerning the project
Among those attending the event were first responders, Phoenix Fire Department (Deputy Chief Mark Slonaker), Police, (Patrolman Steve Weyandt), Hollidaysburg American Legion Ambulance Service (Jay Reilby and Nichole Nagle) plus borough officials, Mayor Chad Repko and Ward 3 council representative, Stephanie Wertz, who were joined by residents, families and staff. Pastor Stewart McClelland offered the invocation.
During construction, a time capsule named "Blessings" was placed into a section of a wall. It is intended to be opened in 50 years for America's Tricentennial.
Work on the project was done by Fiore Construction.
