Jake Webb reunion set for Oct. 10
The annual Jake Webb Reunion will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, at Progressive Martial Arts and Fitness Center in Duncansville.

Webb, 97, stands as one of Pennsylvania's most influential pioneers in weightlifting and physical culture.
As founder of the Pennsylvania Health Gym and the Altoona Barbell Club, Webb shaped generations of athletes and built one of the strongest lifting communities in the state.
His legacy is celebrated annually at the Jake Webb Reunion, held at Progressive Martial Arts and Fitness Center -- home of the Jake Webb Hall of Fame Museum, which honors his life, his gym and the athletes he inspired.
Webb was inducted into the Zuvers Hall of Fame in California and received the Blair County Sports Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award.
Blair Garden Club to meet Monday
The Blair Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at American Legion Post 516 Social Hall, 1501 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg.
Jim Sakacs of Ebensburg will talk about his extensive collection of dahlias. He will share growing tips and proper tuber storing information.
Altoona Story League to meet Oct. 3
The Altoona Story League will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1407 Eighth Ave., Altoona, behind Altoona Junior High School.
Drive along the left side of the church and behind the church; parking is on the right. Use the side door to enter.
The new theme for 2026-27 -- "From My Perspective!" was well received in September. Using active participation as a storytelling technique, the members shared "from their perspective" a favorite book, movie, color, place and a food.
Members visit Garvey Manor and Maybrook Hills to share stories and music with the residents each month. Be a part of storytelling and share your stories. All are welcome. Contact the group through its Facebook page.
Basket, Vera Bradley bingo is Sunday
The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament will hold a Longaberger basket and Vera Bradley bingo at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at Father Kelley Hall, 429 25th Ave., Altoona. The doors will open at noon.
The $25 entry ticket includes 15 games of basket bingo, complimentary food and beverages.
A $30 additional value pack includes 104 door prize tickets, six walk-around tickets, a dauber and five special games.

The Cathedral assists children in Catholic schools, religious education and youth activities.
Basket party to benefit Rescue Workers
The American Rescue Workers will hold a Basket Party fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Blair Regional YMCA.
Tickets can be purchased at the American Rescue Workers facility, 811 Scotch Valley Road, Hollidaysburg.
There will be lots of baskets and other ways to win prizes. Food will be provided by DelGrosso's.

Apple Cider Festival to be held Oct. 4
Prince Gallitzin State Park will host its annual Apple Cider Festival and Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at Muskrat Beach Area 2.
The festival features more than 100 craft vendors, 30 food vendors, live entertainment from the bands Bone Jacked and Reminiscence, hayrides, a petting zoo, chainsaw carving, climbing wall, apple cider demonstrations, environmental education programs and more.
All crafts are created by regional artisans or community organizations. A layout of the vendor area is on the Prince Gallitzin State Park Facebook page.
Admission is free with donations accepted for parking. All donations collected by the Friends of Prince Gallitzin State Park will go toward supporting projects and events for the park.
Bus shuttles will be available from Prince Gallitzin Marina and pontoon boat shuttles will be offered by Patton Fire Company from Killbuck Boat Launch from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. This shuttle service is free, with donations being accepted. Individuals requiring ADA parking, with large strollers or pets will be instructed to park at the Muskrat Beach Area.

Fall Festival planned in Bellwood
Excelsior Fire Company No. 1 of Bellwood will host i
ts annual Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the fire station, 399 S. First St., Bellwood.

Men's Club to host breakfast Oct. 4
The Men's Club of St. Mary and St. Michael in Hollidaysburg will hold its all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Oct. 4, at St. Michael's Church Hall, 301 Spruce St., Hollidaysburg.
Donation of $6 for adults and $3 for ages 12 and younger. Proceeds will benefit upcoming service projects. Breakfast includes drinks and a pancake topping bar.
Lions to hold chicken barbecue Oct. 3
The Lakemont Lions Club will hold a chicken barbecue fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Greenwood Lions Park, East Walton Avenue and Greenwood Road in Logan Township.
The meal includes a large half chicken, baked beans, applesauce and a roll.
Dinners are $13 each. Tickets can be purchased from any Lakemont Lions member or by calling 814-232-5944.
Proceeds will support Lakemont Lions community service.
