Health, welfare council to meet Sept. 25
The Blair County Health and Welfare Council will meet at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at The United Way of the Southern Alleghenies, 208 Hollidaysburg Plaza, Duncansville. There will also be a Zoom option available.
Senior Judge Jolene Kopriva will be the guest speaker. She will be presenting on the US Constitution rights and duties.

Parish to host Game Time for Seniors
Game Time for Seniors is held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month at St. Michael's Church basement in Hollidaysburg.
It is free and open to anyone 55 years of age and up. Bring a friend for some free fun, fellowship and prizes, or just enjoy a cup of coffee and visit with friends. The event is sponsored by St. Mary and St. Michael Parish.
Puzzle swap, brunch set for Sept. 27
A Puzzle Swap and Brunch will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at t Axemann Brewery, 2042 Axeman Road, Bellefonte.
Come swap your gently used puzzles, leave a puzzle take a puzzle. Please be sure to clearly mark any puzzles with missing pieces, bag pieces in the box, or tape the box.
Ballroom dance slated in State College
Centre Ballroom is sponsoring a ballroom dance from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, State College.
Cost is $10 per person. Take a snack to share.

Walk for Breast Cancer is Oct. 17
The Mainline Scout Troops will present a Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Gremlin Park, Gallitzin.
The event will begin at 3 p.m. and continue throughout the night.
There will be a basket raffle (tickets are $5 per sheet) and luminary candles ($3 each or two for $5) from 3 to 7 p.m. Food trucks will be available from 4 to 9 p.m.
Signs for business sponsors (donation of $25 or more for around the walking track).
Organizers are looking for teams ($50 for five members and $10 for each extra person) to participate.
Team camping is welcome.
The opening ceremony will be held at 7:45 p.m. with a Survivors Lap/kickoff lap at 8 p.m.
Shirts will be available soon.
Proceeds will stay local and benefit those touched by breast cancer.

Artist's work to be featured in W.Va.
Award-winning woodturner George Radeschi will be showing his work at two exhibitions in Wheeling, W.Va., from Sept. 19 through Oct. 31.
One is a solo exhibition at the Glass Museum at the Oglebay Resort and the other a group show "New Appalachia' 26" at the Stifel Art Center, both are part of the Oglebay Institute.
At 2 p.m. Sept. 19 in the Center, Radeschi will give a talk about his work.
Radeschi's work has received numerous awards. It has been favorably reviewed by several newspapers, including three times by the New York Times, and featured in many books and magazines in the United States and abroad. His work is in museum, corporate, university and private collections.

Old Timers' Baseball Club holds picnic
The Old Timers' Baseball Club held a picnic from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Delgrosso's Amusement Park, Tipton, with 54 members and guests attending.
Following the 5 p.m. dinner, a raffle drawing was held.
The club motto "Baseball Then, Friendships Now" was on full display throughout the day.
Board members include Denny Cowher, John Leamer, Dick Lingenfelter, Steve Sauers, Joe Saclaro, Bill Wolf and Gary Zimmerman, president.

Dancers name homecoming king, queen
The Indiana Ballroom Dance Club crowned a homecoming queen and king at its recent dance -- Carmen Harrington-Wymer and Bill Westley.

Sewing fundraiser to aid Toy Box Pantry
Yvette Staufert, president of the Toy Box Pantry, will host a fundraiser sewing party for the Toy Box Pantry.
It will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at 612 Second Ave., Altoona.
The money raised will go to buying books, toys and maintaining the library.
Staufert will be giving tours of her workshop and will have handmade items for sale, with all the money raised going to help support the pantry.
Two hand sewing projects will be available to choose from. Kits are $10 each and include everything you need.
Staufert will do a 30-minute demo at the start of the party. No experience is needed. Bring items for the pantry, and your kit is free. It must be new items that are useful, wuch as diapers and educational items for all ages.
Already sew? Bring your machine and your current project. Light snacks will be available, and you're welcome to bring something to share if you'd like.
