The recital will feature works spanning from the early Baroque period through the 20th century, including music by beloved composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Schubert. Kids invited to 'Heroes United'

Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N. Fourth St., Altoona, invites children ages 4 through 5th grade to "Heroes United," a five-evening superhero-themed program to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 9-13 at the church. The program is open to every family in the neighborhood -- no church membership required. The event is free.

Each evening, kids will move through hands-on stations -- storytelling, science experiments, art projects and games -- all built around a single idea: every hero needs a team. Kids will meet a different "mascot" each day, hear a story, and walk away with a keepsake to take home.

The program draws on the idea, found throughout Scripture, that we're each given different gifts, and we're strongest when we bring them together.

Registration is available now through Aug. 9. For more information, contact Juniata United Methodist Church at 814-492-6065 or juniataumc@atlanticbbn.net.
