Skills of Central PA and the Skills Foundation will host the 21st annual E.F. "Pat" Houser Golf Tournament on Monday, Aug. 24, at Toftrees Resort in State College.
The event will feature a shotgun start at 1 a.m. in a "shamble" format. Golfers will compete throughout the day, with contests including longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin, while supporting a local cause.
Proceeds will benefit the Skills Foundation, which provides critical funding to enhance programs, purchase adaptive equipment and technology and respond to emerging needs for the people supported by Skills of Central PA across Central Pennsylvania.
The tournament is named in memory of E.F. "Pat" Houser (Oct. 7, 1922- May 18, 1987), a Bellefonte businessman who excelled in the vending and real estate industries. Houser was one of the founding members of the Skills Board of Directors and a dedicated supporter of local charities and civic organizations.
Past tournaments have raised tens of thousands of dollars annually to fund specialized equipment, new programs, adaptive technology, emergency assistance and other enhancements that directly improve the lives of the people Skills supports.
This year's event has secured the largest donations in the tournament's history, with sponsors and golfers already in place to deliver strong community support for the Skills Foundation's work.

Skills of Central PA is a nonprofit health and human services organization that has been providing intellectual disability and behavioral health services throughout 17 counties in Central Pennsylvania for more than six decades.
