Military Food Share set for Monday
The monthly Military Food Share distribution at the Duncansville VFW Auxiliary 8724 will be held on Monday, Aug. 10, beginning at 11 a.m.
This is for all active military, veterans and widows or widowers of veterans living in Blair County.
A military and photo ID are required. Enter from Dunnings Highway/Newry Lane and line up on Turek Drive if the parking lot is full.
The VFW wants to thank all the volunteers, local businesses, individuals, American Rescue Workers and Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving for helping to keep this program going each month.
Auxiliary meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month at the Duncansville VFW, 1665 Newry Lane. New ideas and volunteers are welcome.
Central Class of 1969 to meet for dinner
The Class of 1969 from Central High School, Martinsburg, will gather for dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at The Dream, Hollidaysburg.
Morrisons Cove Class of '60 to meet
The Morrisons Cove High School Class of 1960 will meet at noon Wednesday, Aug. 12, at The Bistro at The Village of Morrisons Cove.
Spouses and friends are welcome.
Little Rock offers free classes in August
Little Rock Natural Remedies has announced its free classes for August.
All classes are held at 16821 Dunnings Highway. Classes start at 6 p.m. and usually last about an hour. RSVP is not necessary, but helpful, by calling 814-695-0624.

PARSE changes meeting date
The Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees, Blair, Bedford, Huntingdon, Chapter 1-10 met July 21 at the American Legion Social Hall, Hollidaysburg.
Dick McConnell presented Old Time Back Porch Music. Each attendee was given a small flag, Semiquincentennial commemorative pin and printed information concerning the cost of living adjustment.
Chapter president Sharon Dell reported the date of the next meeting has been changed to Sept. 29. Reservations must be in by Sept. 17. Cost is $5 per person. The agenda will include election of officers for the coming year.

Friends to hold movie night Aug. 15
The Friends of Canoe Creek will hold a Saturday Night at the Movies on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Canoe Creek State Park Pavilion No. 2.
There will be a s'mores campfire from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by the movie Disney's "Peter Pan Return to Never Land" at 8 p.m.
Take snacks, refreshments, flashlights, chairs, blankets and bug spray.
This event is alcohol, vape, smoke and drug-free. It is presented by the Friends of Canoe Creek and Blair and Alcohol Partnerships.

Historical society sets speaker series
The Bedford County Historical Society has announced its next event in its speaker series. It will be held at the Hall at Kinton's Knob, 6441 Lincoln Highway, Bedford.
1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 -- Join Superintendent Stephen Clark of the Flight 93 National Memorial for a presentation commemorating the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Reflecting on the events of that tragic day, Clark will share the story of Flight 93, the heroism of its passengers and crew, and the evolution of the national memorial over the past quarter century.
The lecture is free to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Contra dance set for Aug. 15
The State College Friends School will co-host a family-friendly contra dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at the school, 1900 University Drive, State College.
Lessons for new dancers begin at 6 p.m. All dances are taught and easy to learn. Greg Frock will call the dances to music by the Contra Rebels. Suggested donation is $15 to help cover the cost of the caller and musicians, and refreshments will be available. For more information, email statecollegecontradance@gmail.com.
Ballroom dance to be held Aug. 16
Centre Ballroom Dance will hold a dance from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, at Lambert Hall, Bellefonte.
The cost is $10 per person. Take a snack to share.
Cresson library sets activities
Cresson Public Library has announced its August programs.
n Children can stop by the library on Tuesday, Aug. 18, to make fun, DIY crafts. All materials and instructions are provided on the table in the children's section.
n Story Time will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22.
n Pawsome Pets will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15. Therapy dog handlers will read a story. Then therapy dogs will listen to children read stories to them. Preregistration is required to schedule 15-20 minutes of your child reading 1:1 to the dog. Call the library at 814-886-2619 to schedule a time.
n The library will hold a Grilled Stickies Sale (Ye Olde College Diner in State College) through Sept. 2. Receive four large stickies for $9 when ordered and paid by cash/check at the library. Orders are also taken via the library website. The pickup date is Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the library.
