The Family Resource Center of Blair County and United Way of the Southern Alleghenies are once again implementing their annual school supply campaign, Stuff the Bus.
The organizations are looking for businesses, agencies, clubs, churches and individuals to donate to this program that assists any student in Blair County from kindergarten through grade 12.
The campaign is in need of help so that many Blair County students will receive the materials necessary for learning.
Stuff the Bus participants will collect through Aug. 7 when volunteers will pick up donations around Blair County. Current donation locations include: Family Resource Center and United Way, Altoona Area Public Library, Blair County Chamber of Commerce and Contact Altoona during normal business hours.
Supplies needed include: pencils, pencil boxes, notebook paper and notebooks, folders, binders, glue and glue sticks, crayons, markers, pens, scissors, rulers and back packs. Cash donations are also welcome.
Other participants include: The Academy Preschool and Early Education Center, Altoona Sunrise Rotary, Beckwith Buses, Blair County Chapter of PA Retired School Employees, Faith United Church of Christ, Fed Ex., Kohl's, M&T Bank Plank Road, Roaring Spring Paper Products, Veeder Root, Ward Transport and Logistics and UDNI.
Families may register now through Aug. 7 by calling 814-317-5108, ext. 3008, or visiting unitedwaysa.org/STB 2026 and filling out a simple form. Distribution will be on Aug. 13 before the start of school.
Last year, agencies, clubs, churches, businesses and individuals who participated were able to help 450 students, who otherwise may not have been able to afford materials, go to school with the items to succeed.
"Please consider including the Stuff the Bus Campaign in your summer plans for employees, church and club members and families," organizers urge. "It's a great way to help others and every item donated helps Blair County students."
If your organization or business would like to part of this event by collecting, donating or volunteering and "Help us Stuff the Bus," contact the Family Resource Center at United Way by calling 814-317-5567, ext. 4005, or emailing dadams@united
