Military Food Share set for Monday
A Military Food Share at the Duncansville VFW 8724 will be held on Monday, July 13, beginning at 11 a.m.
This is for all active military, veterans and widows or widowers of veterans living in Blair County. A military ID, DD214 or VA card and photo ID are required. Please enter from Dunnings Highway/Newry Lane and line up on Turek Drive.
Food shares are held on the second Monday of each month. The next one will be on Monday, Aug. 10.
Homers Gap Civics plan dinner
The Homers Gap Civic Association, 135 Preston Lane, is celebrating America250 with an eat-in/take-out dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 15.
The cost is $10, which includes a ham and cheese sandwich, potato chips, cookie and an ice cream sundae — all in red, white and blue bags.

Historical society to meet in Duncansville
The Duncansville Area Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1200 Fourth Ave. Enter by door “D” at the rear of the church.
Lynn DeLozier will discuss “The Austin Blair DeLozier Sr. Family,” which was an early family in Duncansville.
Duncansville Community Days will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 17, and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 18. The historical society will be in a large tent on the ballfield side of the Duncansville Park and will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. both days.
There will be music and food on both sides of the park on both days.
The society is encouraging more local people to attend the meetings.

The society meets on the second Tuesday of every other month, except January.
Friends to hold patriotic celebration
The Friends of Canoe Creek will hold a patriotic celebration honoring America’s 250th anniversary from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Canoe Creek State Park beach area.
There will be a free picnic lunch, a flag presentation, live music and kids activities, serving food until 2 p.m. or until all the food is gone. Additional food can be purchased at the concession stand.
The event will be held rain or shine. Take a lawn chair and drinks.

Genealogical society to host author
The Blair County Genealogical Society will host its July speaker event at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at 431 Scotch Valley Road, Hollidaysburg.
Kevin Mearkle will speak about his newest publication “The Revolutionary War Generation of Bedford County — Volume One.”
This book looks at the Revolutionary War Generation of Bedford County. At this time in our country’s history, Bedford County encompassed present day Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntingdon and Somerset counties. This book tells the stories of the pioneers and the struggles they faced.
The program is free and open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend. There will be books available to purchase.
Hollidaysburg Class of 1959 to meet
Members of the Hollidaysburg High School Class of 1959 will meet for lunch at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, in the reserved room at The Dream, 1500 Allegheny St. Classmates and guests are welcome.

Little Rock offers free classes in July
Little Rock Natural Remedies, 16821 Dunnings Highway, is offering free educational classes this month. Classes start at 6 p.m. and usually last about an hour.
July 16 — Muscle testing. Not sure if you need that supplement? Bring it along and get tested for free after class.
July 23 — Natural health from a Biblical perspective.
July 30 — Learn about rosemary and frankincense essential oils.

Altoona Class of 1964 to meet
The Altoona High School Class of 1964 meets at
11:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month for lunch.
This month’s meeting will be on July 16 at the Main Street Grille, 400 Main St., Bellwood.

Ballroom group invites new members
The Indiana Ballroom Dance Club is welcoming new members for the 2026-27 dance season.
There are eight dances/year with great musicians, fun themes and buffet dinners.
Membership is $80 per person.
