Ebensburg celebrates with annual Wheels & Wings
Event features wing-off, food trucks
Ebensburg is gearing up for the 22nd annual “Wheels & Wings” event to be held Thursday evening, June 25, in historic Downtown Ebensburg. This car, truck and motorcycle show will once again be combined with a wing-off between local restaurants and vendors. The event brings thousands to Ebensburg each year.
This year’s Wheels & Wings will feature live music entertainment from 6 to 9:30 p.m. by local rock band Octane, at the intersection of Center and Sample Streets.
Vehicle registration will begin at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the event only. Only the first 250 vehicles will be registered, and the first 100 registrants will receive a ‘Wheels & Wings’ dash plaque sponsored by Roundhouse Harley-Davidson. Registration is $10 and vehicles will enter at the corner of Caroline & High Streets. This year, vehicles will be judged by classes but there will only be one winner per class. There will be three bike classes; Sport Bike, Cruisers & Custom Bikes; five car classes: Pre-50s, 50s, 60s, 70s, Post-80s, and a truck class.
A panel of judges will award trophies to one “Best in Class” winner in each class, and a plaque to the overall “Best of Show” award winner to one car, one truck and one motorcycle. The awards will be announced at 8:30 pm from the entertainment area.
Food vendors will be lined up along West Sample Street serving up their best wings from 5 to 10 p.m. while competing for the title of “Best Wings!” Additional awards will be given out for “Best Hot Wings,” “Best Sweet & Spicy Wings” and “Most Creative Recipe.”
Wing-Off judging will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at Penn Eben gazebo.
Other items for sale will include fresh-cut fries, wood-fired pizza, brisket, hot and sweet Italian sausage, pulled pork, cheesesteaks, chicken fingers, burgers, hot dogs, mac n’ cheese, funnel cakes and more.
Dauntless Fire Company, The Castle Pub and Ebensburg Main Street Partnership will sell adult beverages.
The Ebensburg Main Street Partnership have this year’s Wheels & Wings T-shirts featuring a logo design and other merchandise at their booth along West Sample Street.
First Student will be running a free shuttle to and from the American Legion Fairgrounds and Downtown Ebensburg from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.
