Pennies for Pets

Students and staff at Penn Lincoln Elementary raised $2,525.47 for the Central PA Humane Society through a Pennies for Pets campaign, along with a district-wide dress down day. Taking part in the check presentation are (from left): front row — Theodore Sorce, Piper Lake, Brynlee Detwiler, Mileah Blake and Kingston Kiser; back row — Ashley Getz, Haley Fleegle (AASD assistant superintendent), Jeffrey Guyer (Penn Lincoln principal) and Kristi Phillips (Penn Lincoln teacher and campaign coordinator). Kneeling on the floor is Michelle Brode, CPHS kennel manager, and Golly Gee Willickers. Student representatives along with Penn Lincoln teacher and campaign coordinator Kristi Phillips, AASD assistant superintendent Haley Fleegle and Penn Lincoln principal Jeffrey Guyer presented Michelle Brode, kennel manager, with the proceeds of the campaign. Brode brought one of the shelter’s adoptable pets, Golly Gee Willickers, with her. Students paid a penny per vote for their favorite pet (each pet is currently adoptable at CPHS). The top three winners were Jack, first place, representing Mrs. Reading’s and Mrs. Dunkle’s class; Bandita, second place, representing Mrs. Ward’s class; and Bobinsky, third place,, representing Mr. Lenhart’s class.
