Glendale Education Foundation plans annual golf tournament
COALPORT — The Glendale Education Foundation finalized plans for its flagship summer fundraiser during its April meeting at Josie’s Family Restaurant.
The annual golf tournament will take place on Friday, June 12, at the Sinking Valley Country Club. Up to 28 teams will compete for the “Snyder Cup” Trophy. The event features various raffles, prizes and a full dinner for participants.
Tournament Chairperson Ty Stackhouse said, “It takes months of preparation to secure the participants, plan the menu and prizes, and reach out to sponsors and donors.”
“But it’s well worth the effort to raise funds for the Glendale students.”
Proceeds from the tournament directly fund educational programs and special projects in the Glendale School District. Community members can support the cause by sponsoring a hole or donating raffle baskets. Inquiries can be sent to GSDEFGolf@gmail.com.
The foundation’s Scholarship Committee reported that several dozen high school seniors applied for available funds this year’s awards program on May 20.
Foundation President Sherri Campbell spoke at the ceremony.
Treasurer Kay Stiver announced a major financial milestone for a student-led initiative. Glendale senior Scotty Beers raised more than $30,000 for his Planetarium Project. The foundation held and managed the funds, which have now been paid to the school district to finance necessary restructuring, new equipment and updated classroom technology.
Ranger Yeager from Prince Gallitzin State Park recently visited elementary students to participate in the “Glendale One Book” program. Students received copies of “Pete the Cat Goes Camping.”
The board approved several operational updates and future community events:
The foundation provided donuts and treats to faculty members during Teacher Appreciation Week.
The board adjusted deadlines for the 2026-27 Challenge and Venture Grants. All district teachers have been notified of the changes via school email.
Members voted to participate in the downtown street fair on June 20.
The group approved the purchase of new display signs and finalized updated text for an upcoming local promotional billboard.
Board member Nancy Gobert provided an update on the “Night at the Races” fundraiser, which will take place on Oct. 17 at the Moose Lodge in Coalport. Due to limited seating, organizers encourage community members to purchase tickets early once they become available.
The next regular GSDEF meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, July 27.
