Bellwood-Antis library sets programs for May
The Bellwood-Antis Public Library has announced its programs for May.
n A PA CareerLink-Blair County representative is at the library every Tuesday with drop-in hours from 1 to 3 p.m. The representative can help individuals apply for jobs, update their resume and navigate the CareerLink website. From 3 to 4:30 p.m., the library hosts The Hub, Careerlink of Blair County’s afterschool program for teens. Teens will learn job-ready skills via fun activities. There are mock interviews, resume games, meet-ups with local businesses and free snacks. Any student in grades 6-12 is welcome.
n Release the wiggles at Toddler Tuesday, a special toddler-sized, toddler-friendly storytime with lots of songs, dancing and the kind of silliness you can only get from a trained professional librarian.
The next group of Toddler Tuesdays ist at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday from May 5 through June 16. Toddler Tuesday is for children ages 18 months to 3 years. New families are welcome.
n May Club Lego session will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 21. Club Lego is an evening of Lego freestyling, teamwork and creativity for kids ages 5 and up. No sign-ups needed.
n Ecotopian Earthcare presents a Native Plant Sale at the Bellwood-Antis Public Library starting Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and continuing during regular library hours (1 to 8 p.m.) Monday, May 11, through Wednesday, May 13. Ecotopian Earthcare will sell native plants of all types to entice local pollinators to your garden.
n PAWS to Read will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9. Kids will meet and read to an adoptable cat friend from the Central PA Humane Society. This program is for children ages 5 and up: the library asks that a parent or caregiver stay with their child during the program.
n The Northern Blair Job Fair will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 12. Meet local employers, get questions answered and explore career paths. This job fair is made possible by CareerLink of Blair County and the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce. This fair is primarily geared toward residents of, or individuals looking for work in, Tyrone, Tipton and Bellwood. No pre-registration required for job seekers. Free to attend — no registration required.
n Lynn Dalby Designs will be at the library at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14, to teach families the secrets of bubble magic in a hands on workshop for parents and children ages 5 and up. n In May, the library is alternating Club Lego Thursdays with Chalk Art Nights. At 6 p.m. Thursdays, May 14, and 28, kids can enjoy creating chalk art on the Logan Valley Streetcar Trail outside the library. In the event of rain, art projects for kids will be set up in the children’s room. No sign-ups needed: walk-ins (and chalk-ins) are welcome.
n The Chapters & Chat Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, June 1, at the library. This month’s title is “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” by William Kamkwamba. New members are welcomet. Purchase the book from your favorite bookseller or ask at the checkout desk for an interlibrary loan.
