HAAC art camp registrations due May 8
Hollidaysburg Area Arts Council will hold its annual art camp from June 8 to June 11 at Foot of Ten Elementary School, Duncansville.
The theme is “All Around The World.” It is open to children ages 6 to 9. It will be instructed by Macie Cutshall.
There is a $125 registration fee, and the deadline to register is May 8.

Country Traditions to perform May 9
The Alum Bank Community Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary will host the band Country Traditions from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the firehall.
Admission is $5 per person. The kitchen will open at
5 p.m. It is a smoke- and alcohol-free atmosphere.

Swinging Squares schedules May dances
The Swinging Squares Square and Round Dance Club has announced its May schedule.
All dances are held on Thursday evenings at the Jaggard Street United Methodist Church in Altoona. Prerounds are from 6 to 6:30 p.m., with class lessons and dancing from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
May 7 — Regular club fance.
May 14 — No dance.
May 16 — Anniversary dance (Saturday from (1 to 4 p.m.)
May 21 — Hawaiian Luau/Beach Party.
May 28 — Memorial Day Dance (wear red, white and blue).
Railway employees to meet Wednesday
The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Railway Employees will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, at Prime Sirloin Buffet.
NARVRE is the only chartered national organization whose sole purpose is to protect pension rights.
All retired, veteran and present employees (and their spouses) are invited to attend the meeting of NARVRE Unit 173, Altoona. Members and nonmembers are welcome.

The regular monthly meeting of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Retirees Subchapter 8306 will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday,

The executive board will meet at 12:30 p.m. New members are encouraged to attend.

Civil War Round Table to meet Tuesday
The Central PA Civil War Round Table will meet at
7 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, in the Activities Room of the South Hills School of Business & Technology, 480 Waupelani Drive, State College.
The featured speaker will be Terry Beltz on “Unclaimed Valor: The History of the 130th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers.”
Beltz is a retired Army Colonel with an ardent interest in 19th Century American History, particularly the Civil War.
He is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and now lives in Earlysville, Va.
Anyone who is interested in joining the Central PA Civil War Round Table is invited to attend.

Contra dance to be held May 16
The State College Friends School will co-host a family-friendly contra dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at the school, 1900 University Drive, State College.
Lessons for new dancers begin at 6 p.m. All dances are taught and easy to learn.
Bob Nicholson will call the dances to music by an open contra dance band featuring Crooked Stovepipe.
The suggested donation is $15 to help cover the cost of the caller and musicians, and refreshments will be available.
