Residents urged to get active
Healthy Blair County Coalition launches America250 Challenge
In celebration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence, the Healthy Blair County Coalition’s Get Active Blair County Committee is inviting residents to take part in the #America250ActiveChallenge, a yearlong initiative designed to promote health, wellness and community engagement.
The challenge encourages participants to complete 250 units of a chosen activity throughout the year. The “250” goal is a nod to the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration, while also inspiring individuals and families to stay active in ways that are meaningful and achievable.
Activities are designed to be flexible and accessible for all ages and ability levels, while also highlighting Blair County’s unique natural landscapes, trails and recreational amenities. Whether it’s walking, biking, hiking or another preferred activity, participants can tailor the challenge to fit their lifestyle.
Community members are encouraged to track their progress using their favorite fitness or activity apps, share their journey on social media using the hashtag #America250ActiveChallenge and log their activity through the Healthy Blair County Coalition website.
“This challenge is a fun and meaningful way to celebrate our nation’s history while investing in our personal health and the well-being of our community,” United Way of the Southern Alleghenies CEO Karen Struble said. The coalition exists under UWSA’s umbrella. “We hope individuals, families and organizations across Blair County will join us in getting active and exploring all our region has to offer.”
