Glendale Education Foundation plans golf event
Group celebrates successful WineFest
The Glendale Education Foundation Board of Directors met Monday, Feb. 23, at Josie’s Family Restaurant in Coalport to finalize preparations for its annual golf tournament fundraiser and celebrate recent successes in supporting local education.
Golf Tournament Chairperson Ty Stackhouse announced that the 2026 tournament will take place on Friday, June 12, at the Sinking Valley Country Club near Bellwood.
Interest in this year’s event is high, with as many as 25 teams expected to compete.
Participants will enjoy 18 holes of golf, followed by a dinner and multiple opportunities to win prizes. Stackhouse noted that sponsorship and donation letters will be distributed shortly. Businesses or individuals interested in participating or donating are encouraged to contact the foundation at GSDEFdirector@gmail.com.
Nancy Gobert, WineFest chairperson, reported that the fundraiser held on Feb. 7 raised more than $7,300. These funds are earmarked for educational projects and learning enhancements within the Glendale School District.
“We are incredibly grateful for the community’s tremendous generosity,” said Gobert.
The foundation has scheduled WineFest VIII for Saturday, Feb. 6, 2027, at The Pines in Fallentimber.
The board also addressed several key initiatives currently benefiting Glendale students and faculty:
n Plans are underway for awards recognition ceremonies at both the elementary and high school levels.
n Planetarium Project: A student-led fundraiser, headed by Glendale senior Scotty Beers, has raised more than $30,000 for the district planetarium.
n Academic Enrichment: The foundation discussed the availability and deadlines for submission of Challenge and Venture Grants for faculty. Additionally, upcoming elementary reading programs will feature a special visit from author Jenna Rice.
The next meeting of the Glendale Education Foundation Board will be held on Monday, April 27, at Josie’s Family Restaurant in Coalport.
