National FFA Week was held Feb. 21-28, and the Tyrone Area FFA Chapter was buzzing with excitement.

National FFA Week is an opportunity for members to embrace the organization’s mission of fostering premier leadership, personal growth and career success among agriculture students.

For the Tyrone Area FFA members, it’s a time for celebration, learning, teamwork and community engagement.

Leading up to the event, the FFA officer team planned impactful “growth lessons” for members. These workshops aimed to bolster foundational skills that extend far beyond the classroom, all under the chapter’s theme: “Be the Spark: Ignite the Future.”

The lessons focused on essential topics such as leadership, communication, time management, teamwork and career readiness.

Members also got to refresh their understanding of FFA traditions, official dress and parliamentary procedure.

A student-driven committee also decorated the room and hosted the first-ever FFA Week Door Service for teachers, administration and staff.

“We wanted to thank the faculty and staff for their support, which has made a significant impact,” said Sarah Weakland, FFA Week committee co-chair. Members also received positivity notes and other surprises throughout the week.

In conjunction, Tractor Supply Company hosted the 11th annual Grants for Growing fundraiser, empowering

with hands-on learning experiences. Visitors to the Tyrone store could check out the Tyrone Area FFA Ag Education Program display and support the initiative by purchasing a paper FFA emblem.

The National FFA Board of Directors established this weeklong tradition in 1948, honoring George Washington’s legacy as an agriculturist.

Founded by young farmers in 1928, FFA has long influenced generations, showcasing that agriculture encompasses science, business and more.
