Cresson Library announces programs
The Cresson Public Library has announced its activities for the upcoming months.
Pop-Up Craft Days: On Tuesdays, April 7 and April 21, children can stop by the library to make fun, Spring DIY crafts. All materials and instructions are provided for these DIYs on the table in the children’s section.
Story Time and Activity Hour: Story Time will be held from 10
to 11 a.m. Saturdays, April 11 and April 25, with a special round of Library Bingo on April 25.
Pawsome Reading Program: From 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, therapy dog handlers will read a story. Then therapy dogs will listen to children read stories to them. Even if the child cannot read yet, the child can look through a picture book and use his/her imagination to make up a story to tell the dog. Preregistration is required to schedule 15 to 20 minutes of the child reading one-on-one to the dog. Call the library at 814-886-2619 to schedule a time.
Story Stitchers Sewing Club: Story Stitchers will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday April 22 (on the fourth Wednesday of the month) at the library. Anyone who can can thread a needle can participate. Call the library at 814-886-2619 for information on past or present projects.
Sun, Skin, and Survival: The Melanoma Talk Everyone Needs: Join nurses, Dr. Jessica Gregg and Dr. Bernadette Marturano, from Saint Francis University, Loretto, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, for this talk on taking care of skin and shielding it from the sun’s damaging rays. This talk on melanoma is for all ages. Learn how to detect melanoma and how to protect the skin. This talk is presented in memory of Margaret “Peggy” Hanlon.
Tick Talk — Tiny Ticks, Big Risks: Understanding Ticks and Their Diseases: Join Dr. J.T. Bandzuh from Mount Aloysius College, Cresson, at noon Saturday, May 2, for a talk on deer ticks, the diseases they can carry and what community members should know to stay safe. This presentation will cover how to identify ticks, understand common health risks and take simple steps to protect oneself, their family and their pets.
Cresson Public Library Lottery Ticket Fundraiser: Tickets are available at the library for drawings July 1-5. The winning number is determined by the PA Daily Lottery Number. Each ticket is $10 and directly benefits the library. Tickets were donated by Anderson Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
