Hollidaysburg library sets April programs
The Hollidaysburg Area Public Library has announced its activities for April.
The library will be closed April 3, 4 and 5 for the Easter holiday.
n Canasta and Mah Jongg games are held at 11 a.m. Mondays. Beginners are welcome.
n Maker Mondays are held all day Mondays in the Children’s Room. A station will be set up with a different craft, challenge or activity each week.
n Storytime and Craft will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
n Earth Day Storytime will be held at 10:30 a.m. April 14 and 17 with special guest AJ Kurtz from the IRC of Blair County. Participants will be planting their own seeds in compost and recycled pots.
n Needlework & Arts Group is held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Bring your own materials and projects for this crafting club intended for adults.
n Twisted Stitchers meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Bring your own project, yarn, and hooks; spend time with other crafters.
n Dance, Sing and Play! 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, April 9, 16, 23 and 30. Need to get your wiggles out? Dance, sing, shake the parachute and some shaky eggs too!
n Lego Club will meet from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays. The library will supply Legos. It is intended for school-aged children.
n Language in the Library will be held from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Mondays, April 13, 20 and 27. This program is intended for children in kindergarten through sixth grade and is taught by Hollidaysburg Area High School language teachers and members of the Language Clubs. April’s sessions feature French.
n Paws to Read will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11. Meet and read to pets from the Central PA Humane Society. Children ages 5 and older are welcome with their caregivers.
n Altoona/Blair County Photo Society (ABCPS) will meet at 6:30 p.m. Mondays, April 6 and 20. The Photo Society gathers to discuss a variety of topics, including taking and editing pictures. Learn something new with any type of camera or smart phone. New members are welcome. Call 814-207-1479 with questions.
n The Friends of the Library will hold a used book sale April 15, 16 and 17 at the library. The preview sale for members of the Friends will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14. Wednesday and Thursday sale hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday sale hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. A $5-a-Bag Day will begin Thursday evening at 5 p.m. and run through Friday.
n The Inspirational Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9. This month’s book selection is Miss Katie’s Rosewood, by Michael Phillips.
n Women Writers Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14. April’s book will be “The Poisonwood Bible” by Barbara Kingsolver.
n Best of Times Book Club will meet at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 30, to discuss “James” by Percival Everett. All are welcome.
