Blair Garden Club to celebrate 76 years

The Blair Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, March 23, at the American Legion Post 516 Social Hall, 1501 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg.

Members will celebrate the club’s 76th anniversary with a pre-paid catered dinner.

The club will host the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania District VI Annual Meeting on Sept. 1 at The Bistro in Martinsburg.

On Monday’s evening’s agenda will be a discussion about organizing the September event.

Omega Club to hold spring luncheon

The Penelec Omega Club will host its spring luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, at Hoss’s Steak & Sea House, 110 Patchway Road in Duncansville.

The guest speaker will be a representative from the Pennsylvania Gaming Commission. which oversees the state’s lottery system, casinos and gaming licenses.

Toy Train Swap Meet is March 29

The Alto Model Train Museum Spring ‘Toy Train Swap Meet will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at the Blair County Convention Center, One Convention Center Drive, Altoona.

The event offers scale-model sizes in electric trains such as O gauge, O-27, S, HO and N, as well as a wide variety of new and used accessories.

The venue offers the opportunity to showcase the newest products from manufacturers such as Lionel, MTH, Bachmann, and American Flyer and American Models and others, as well as vintage stock offered to complete older collections.

In addition, railroad memorabilia and railroad books will be available.

This is the largest train show between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg.

The event benefits the Alto Model Train Museum, a registered educational and nonprofit organization.

The Alto Model Train Museum is at 1117 Ninth Ave., Altoona, and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to

2 p.m. every Saturday.

Events such as The Altoona Model Train Museum Swap Meet help the organization sustain this hobby for all age groups, and also preserve some of Altoona’s significant rail heritage.

Central Class of 1969 to meet Tuesday

The Class of 1969 from Central High School, Martinsburg, will gather for dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at The Dream, Hollidaysburg.

Little Rock announces free classes

Little Rock Natural Remedies, 16821 Dunning Highway, Duncansville, has announced its upcoming free classes.

Genealogical society sets ribbon cutting

The Blair County Genealogical Society will host a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration for its new building addition at 1 p.m. Friday, March 27, at its headquarters, 431 Scotch Valley Road, Hollidaysburg.

The expansion marks an important milestone for the organization and its ongoing mission to preserve and share Blair County’s family and local history. The new addition will provide expanded space for research materials, programs and community activities.

Members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony, tour the new addition and learn more about the society’s resources and programs. Light refreshments will be served.
