Hollidaysburg library sets programs for November

The Hollidaysburg Area Public Library has announced its activities for November.

The library will be closed Nov. 11 for Veterans Day, closing early at 2 p.m. on Nov. 26, and closed Nov. 27, 28, 29 and 30 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

n Canasta and Mah Jongg games are held at 11 a.m. Mondays. Beginners are welcome.

n Maker Mondays are held all day Mondays in the Children's Room. A station will be set up with a different craft, challenge or activity each week.

n Storytime and Craft will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. A special Storytime will be held on Friday, Nov. 21 with Abigail Morgan, who will read stories and sing songs teaching that "Feelings Are OK."

n Needlework & Arts Group is held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Bring your own materials and projects for this crafting club intended for adults.

n Twisted Stitchers meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Bring your own project, yarn and hooks; spend time with other crafters.

n Dance, Sing and Play! will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, Nov. 13 and 20. Dance, sing, shake the parachute and some shaky eggs too!

n Lego Club meets from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays. Bring your imagination; the library will supply the Legos. The program is intended for school-aged children.

n Language in the Library will be held from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 3 and 10. This program is intended for children grades K-6 and is taught by HAHS language teachers and members of the Language Clubs. This session features Spanish.

n Paws to Read will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1. Meet and read to pets from the Central PA Humane Society. Children ages 5 and older are welcome with their caregivers.

n The Altoona/Blair County Photo Society (ABCPS) will meet at 6:30 p.m., Mondays, Nov. 10 and 17. The Photo Society gathers to discuss a variety of topics, including taking and editing pictures. Learn something new with any type of camera or smart phone. New members are always welcome. Call 814-207-1479 with questions.

n The Inspirational Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. This month's book selection is "Together Is All We Need" by Michael Phillips.

n The Women Writers Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18. This month's book is "The Bloody Chamber" by Angela Carter.

n The Best of Times Book Club will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, to discuss "Seven Days of Us" by Francesca Hornak. All are welcome.
