Blair Garden Club sets holiday social
Blair Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at the American Legion Post 516 Social Hall, 1501 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg.
This evening is the holiday social and members are to bring a $10 or less gift of a garden-related item for an exchange. There will also be games and prizes. At this meeting, members will collect a monetary donation for the Altoona Food Bank as they have in previous years. Members are to check their yearbook to see which food item they are to bring for sharing.
This will be the last meeting until Feb. 23, 2026.
Juniata Civics plan Christmas Market
The Juniata Civic Association will host its fourth annual Christmas Market and Soup Sampling from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at 206 W. 12th Ave., Altoona.
There will be vendors to help with holiday shopping and a soup sampling. Quarts of soup will also be available for $10.
Ivyside Pride to perform 'Uplifted'
Penn State Altoona's Ivyside Pride choral group will offer its fall performance, "Uplifted," at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 and 5, in the Wolf Kuhn Theatre of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts.
Both performances are free and open to the public.
Ivyside Pride is directed by Bonnie Cutsforth-Huber, professor of music at Penn State Altoona. The group has performed both nationally and internationally, including at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Strasbourg Cathedral and St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, Austria.
Performances are free and open to the public thanks to the Kjell Meling Arts for All Initiative.

Cookie Crawl to be held Dec. 13
The Mainline Trailblazers Troop 814 will sponsor the third annual Christmas Cookie Crawl on Saturday, Dec. 13.
The crawl will begin at 10 a.m. at the Sankertown VFW in Cresson, and travel throughout the Mainline area collecting cookies and voting on the best cookie.

University Jazz Band to perform
Penn State Altoona's University Jazz Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, in the Paul R. and Margery Wolf Kuhn Theatre of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. This performance is free and open to the public.
The student ensemble is directed by Josh Hillard, part-time instructor in music at Penn State Altoona. Musical selections in a variety of contemporary big band styles will be performed. Joining the band on trumpet is James Moore, an in-demand player in Pittsburgh's vibrant jazz scene. He is a member of the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra and performs regularly with jazz legend Roger Humphries.
This performance is free and open to the public through support of the Kjell Meling Arts for All Initiative.

Christmas home tour set in Bedford
The Bedford County Garden Club will host a Christmas home tour titled, "Candles Snow and Mistletoe" on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 and 7.
Three locations will be included as well as a wrap at the Spring House Estates in Everett.
Tickets are $15 prior to Nov. 30 and $20 at the door. They are available at Juli's Wearable Arts or the Bedford Visitors' Bureau or from any Garden Club member.
DAR hears talk, plans potluck
The Adam Holliday Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution met Nov. 8 at the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library Community Room.
Eric Stroup, editor of the Tyrone Daily Herald, spoke about journalism and reporting from our country's early years to today. He noted that Founding Father Benjamin Franklin published the Pennsylvania Gazette in 1729 and believed that journalism should be open to multiple points of view serving society.
Chapter members addressed 488 Christmas and thank-you cards that were sent to "Hugs for Soldiers" for Christmas delivery to U.S. military serving overseas.
"Service to America" donations were canned food and non-perishable food items for the Altoona St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry for the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.
The chapter's annual Christmas party will be a potluck luncheon and gift exchange on Dec. 20 at the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library.
Any woman at least 18 years of age who can prove lineal descent to a patriot who served in the Revolutionary War or gave aid to American Colonists is eligible for DAR membership. Genealogy help is available.
