Rosary rally to be held
The Knights of Columbus Chapter 551 and Cathedral Christian Mothers will host a public Rosary Prayer Rally in cooperation with the America Needs Fatima committee at noon Saturday, Oct. 11, at Heritage Plaza, Altoona. Refreshments will be available prior to the rosary with music by the Holy Spirit Ministry. A Columbus Day Celebration luncheon will be held at the K of C building, 1508 12th Ave., after the rosary. Join us as we come together in Mary's powerful prayer. Participants are encouraged to bring a chair.
Bible conference planned
The fourth annual biblical origins and evidence conference will be hosted by Frankstown Park Missionary Church, 469 Church Lane, Hollidaysburg, Oct. 10-12. Sessions begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday night and run throughout the weekend. Noted biblical archaeologist, professor and author Douglas Petrovich will lead several sessions.
Clothing giveaway set

Free lunch scheduled
A free lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Twenty-Eighth Street Church of the Brethren, 28th Street and Union Avenue. Dine in or take out. All are welcome. The menu is vegetable soup, applesauce, dinner roll and dessert.
Food pantry distribution set

Anniversary celebrated
Faith United Church of Christ, 711 Seventh Ave., Altoona, will commemorate the 300th anniversary of the first Holy Communion of the German Reformed Church in America on Sunday, Oct. 12, at its 10:45 a.m. worship service.
Homecoming Sunday scheduled
Calvary United Methodist Church, 167 Blue Ball Road, West Decatur, will hold Homecoming Sunday on Oct. 12. Worship will be at 9:30 a.m., with the Rev. Forest "Bud" Bish as the speaker. Sunday school will follow at 10:45. A covered dish lunch will be held at noon. All are welcome.
Pumpkin, mum sale ongoing
Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren Youth Group, 28th Street and Union Avenue, will be selling mums and pumpkins to raise money for the national youth conference from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays and from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in October. Pumpkins are $5 and $7. Mums are $8, while supplies last.
Kirk to be remembered at vigil

Movie night planned
Twenty-Eighth Street Church of the Brethren will be offering a movie night at the church on Friday, Oct. 17. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for snacks and the movie will start at 7:30 p.m.
Exercising your faith
Everyone is welcome to praise the Lord while exercising at the Christian Dance Fitness class from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays at the Groove Fitness Studio, 539 E. 25th Ave., Altoona (Ivyside Plaza). The class is taught by instructor Cathy Chirdon. All fitness levels are welcome. Cost is $7 a class, or $60 for a 10-class punchcard; health insurance fitness plans accepted. Picnics in the park set
The Well Ministry Center will host Picnics in the Park each Tuesday in October at Grove Memorial Park, Sixth Avenue and 23rd Street. A meal will be served followed by games and a message of hope. Book study ongoing
As the PEACE Initiative continues, Christ Community United Methodist Church will be offering discussions around the book "Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes are High." Limited copies of the book are available at the church through a Peace With Justice grant. Participants are asked to read the book and take part in sessions, the last of which is Oct. 15. Veterans dinner scheduled
The Well Ministry Center is hosting a recognition dinner for area veterans at 6 p.m. Oct. 17. The meal will be held at the American Legion Social Hall, 1501 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg. Veterans are allowed to bring one guest.

Chiz Rider visiting
Chiz Rider will be performing and leading worship at Jaggard First United Methodist Church, 1801 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 19. The Rev. Fred Hickok and the congregation invite the public to attend the special worship service.
Kids' music groups meet
Zion Lutheran Church, 500 Allegheny St., has regularly meeting music groups for kids of all ages. NOIZ, ages 4 through sixth grade, and "BIG" NOIZ, seventh grade and up, provide opportunities for singing, hand bells, music theory and even songwriting. Participants are not required to sing and no musical experience is necessary. Sessions are led by Director of Faith Formation and Outreach Ryan Custead and explore how we use music in our life of faith. NOIZ and "BIG" NOIZ also offer music in worship throughout the year. The free program meets in Zion's upstairs kids' music room, and all ages are welcome to start attending any time.
NOIZ meets from 9 to 9:30 a.m. every Sunday from September to May and "BIG" NOIZ meets from 10 to 10:30 a.m. every first and third Sunday from September to May.

Children's choir to perform
The African Children's Choir will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N. Fourth St., Altoona.
The choir is marking over four decades of transforming lives through the power of music, education and hope. As they embark on a tour of more than 100 cities, the choir will continue to captivate audiences with their heartwarming performances with a show that blends traditional hymns and African cultural sounds, while sharing stories of God's faithfulness through joyful worship.

Joyful noise service planned
A joyful noise service is planned for 3 p.m. Oct. 19 at Juniata United Methodist Church. This Service is intended for children with autism, PDD-NOS, ADHD, Down syndrome and any other developmental/physical challenges and families with young children. Blessing of the animals set
Temple Beth Israel will host its annual blessing of the animals at 12:15 p.m. Oct. 19 in the Temple's Petsonk Rose Garden. Everyone is welcome to join Rabbi Audrey Korotkin and her rescue dog Sammy for an hour of praying, sharing and enjoying refreshments. The temple will also be collecting donations for the Central Pa. Humane Society.
