The Blair County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People No. 2252 will hold its annual Freedom Fund Gala from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Heritage Discovery Center, 1421 12th Ave., Altoona. Doors will open at 3 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to wear semi-formal attire as they gather for an evening of inspiration, recognition and unity.
The speaker will be Dr. Ron Darbeau, chancellor of the Penn State Altoona campus.
Attendees also will hear poetry readings from Dr. Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, English professor at Penn State Altoona.
This year's Gala will spotlight local leaders, youth advocates and unsung heroes whose work uplifts the values of equity, education and cultural preservation. Guests will enjoy live performances, a catered dinner and a powerful program that reflects the NAACP's enduring mission to advance civil rights and foster inter-generational engagement.
The Freedom Fund Gala 2025's theme is "Together We Rise: Uplifting Every Story."
