Cemetery discussion planned
A brief meeting to discuss the cemetery upkeep will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Altoona.
Red Mass/Law Day set
Saint Francis University will host its 43rd Annual Red Mass / Law Day at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, in the Immaculate Conception Chapel. The annual observance invites the legal and law enforcement communities and the public to reflect on the spiritual and civic responsibilities inherent in law and public service.
This year's national Law Day theme, "The Constitution's Promise: Out of Many, One," highlights how the U.S. Constitution calls for unity and shared purpose. The event will feature keynote speaker Marianne Corr, vice president and general counsel at the University of Notre Dame. Corr will share reflections from her legal career and offer insights on how the law serves as a national unity, responsibility, and justice framework.
Judges, attorneys, law enforcement professionals, students and community members of all faiths are invited to attend.
Breakfast offered
St. John's Reformed Church, 906 Maple Ave., Hollidaysburg, will hold its annual spring pancake, bacon & sausage breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at the church. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children 3-12 years of age, and free to children younger than 3. Tickets, available at the door, includes all the pancakes, bacon and sausage you can eat, plus juice, coffee, tea or milk.
Holy Spirit Ministry meets
Holy Spirit Ministry will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, at St. Catherine of Sienna, Duncansville. The worship and prayer teams will be joining Father Jeremy Mohler during the parish mission. The talk will be on The Holy Spirit: Fire of Peace and witness talks.
National Day of Prayer set
Blair County National Day of Prayer will be held at noon, Thursday, May 1, at Legion Park, Hollidaysburg. The theme is "Pour out to the God of hope and be filled" from Romans 15:13. Keynote speaker is City Councilman Dave Butterbaugh, with music by Tom Smith. Area pastors will lead in prayer for the founding principles of the nation and for family, church, government, armed forces, schools and more.
Gospel concert planned
The gospel group, New Journey, will present a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Smith Corner Independent Mennonite Church, 3.1 miles west of East Freedom on Route 164. An offering will be accepted to assist New Journey with their ministry.
Food distribution planned
St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Eighth Avenue and 13th Street, Altoona, will hold its monthly food pantry distribution from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24. Food distribution is done on a drive-thru basis. More information is available on the church's website or Facebook page, or call the church at 814-942-1372. Leave a message and calls will be returned. Donations to the food pantry, either in money or in nonperishable food are always welcome.
Refugees topic of PEACE talk
Christ Community United Methodist Church, 5715 Roselawn Ave., Altoona, will be continuing its PEACE Initiative Studies. May's study will be centered on Gena Thomas' book "Separated by the Border" and the topic of refugees in America. This roundtable is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 21. Limited copies of the books are available at the church.
Free concert offered
A concert featuring the Raystown Woods, a local woodwind ensemble, and three advanced piano students of Cynthia Finnegan, will hold a concert at 3 p.m. April 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 408 N. Sixth St., Altoona. Admission is free as part of the Sunderman Memorial Concert Series.
Chef salad sale begins
A chef's salad sale is being held by Greenwood United Methodist Church. Salads will be available for pickup on Friday, May 9.
Salads are $12 and tickets are available by calling 814-943-5834 or email office@greenwoodunitedmethodistchurch.com. Last day to order tickets is Tuesday, May 6.
Ladies video conference planned
The Adorned Ladies Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, 810 Ruskin Drive, Altoona, will host a ladies video conference from 6:15 to 9 p.m. April 25 and 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. April 26. The conference, "Truth: Uncovering the Lies We Believe," features well known apologist and Bible scholar, Ken Ham with Dr. Georgia Purdom, Tommye Hammel, Camille Cates and Heidi St. John. Also featured is singer and keyboardist Michael O'Brien in concert Friday evening.

Teen program announced
Faith Baptist Church of Altoona is now hosting an after school program. Stand in the Gap Youth Ministries, geared toward teenagers, was started by Nicole Thompson. It is held in the church Fellowship Hall from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday for all teens in 6th through 12th grade. The program offers teens a safe place to gather, have fun, get a bite to eat, do homework or get help with their schoolwork.

Quilting ministry offered
Zion Lutheran Church invites women of all ages to attend Stitch and Sew in Zion's Fellowship Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays. No experience is required to help create quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Bring a bagged lunch, if you'd like. For more information, call the church office at 814-695-0091.
