Dance showcase raises $1,518 for brave young student

The 2025 MainStreet Dance Company from Andrea’s School of Dance in Bellwood showcase embodied the powerful notion of using one’s talents to inspire kindness and support. Unlike the traditional recitals that primarily feature group performances, this event highlighted the individual stories and unique journeys of each dancer, emphasizing the importance of community and giving. BELLWOOD — The MainStreet Dance Company Showcase held on Feb. 1 in the Bellwood-Antis High School auditorium raised $1,518 for Kenzie Jones.

Kenzie is a courageous second-grade student at Myers Elementary School, whose life has been deeply impacted by health challenges.

Kenzie was diagnosed with IgA Vasculitis in April 2024, embarking on a difficult journey that has included numerous hospital visits, intense medical treatments and emotional struggles.

Since her diagnosis, she has faced multiple hospitalizations, battling life-threatening conditions that have tested her resilience. Unfortunately, Kenzie experienced a setback just before the showcase.

This annual event is not solely a celebration of dance; it also emphasizes the importance of giving back, a core value of the MainStreet Dance Company, affiliated with Andrea’s School of Dance.

Special recognition goes to Andrea McGraw, the studio owner and artistic director, for providing this opportunity for her dancers.

Since its establishment in 2010, the showcase has offered a platform for talented performers to shine through group, solo, duo and trio performances.

Each year, the showcase not only highlights the art of dance but also serves as a means of supporting the community.

To date, Andrea’s School of Dance has raised and donated more than $12,500 to benefit individuals and organizations in Bellwood and surrounding areas, reinforcing the event’s commitment to philanthropy alongside artistic expression.
