MARK R. TAYLOR
On Sept. 30, 2024, Col. Mark R. Taylor retired from the US Army after 27 years of military service.
A native of Altoona, Taylor graduated from Altoona High School in 1993 and from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1997.
Taylor began his military career as a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter pilot where he served in 10th Mountain Division, 2nd Infantry Division, 12th Aviation Battalion and 3rd Army. His deployments and overseas
assignments include tours to: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Kuwait and
the Republic of Korea.
After his operational assignments, Taylor transitioned to the Army Acquisition Corps which is responsible for developing new equipment and weapon systems for the Army.
Taylor served in multiple aviation, intelligence and cyber acquisition program management positions within the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM), multiple Army program executive offices, the Intelligence Community and the Pentagon.
Taylor, his wife (Meredith), children (Carter, 15; Carolyn, 6; and Catherine, 4); his parents (Robert and Carole Taylor), other family members, friends and colleagues celebrated his retirement in a ceremony held at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va.
Taylor chose to continue his service to the nation as an Army civilian employee where he currently serves as senior financial analyst in the US Army Budget Office at the Pentagon. He resides with his family in Alexandria, Va.
