Dance showcase Feb. 1 to benefit 2nd-grader

BELLWOOD — The MainStreet Dance Company from Andrea’s School of Dance will hold a Dance Showcase at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Bellwood-Antis High School auditorium. The doors will open at 6:15 p.m.

This year’s showcase focuses on raising funds for Kenzie Jones, a second-grade student at Myers Elementary School, whose life has been significantly affected by health challenges.

Diagnosed with IgA Vasculitis in April 2024, Kenzie has faced a daunting journey filled with hospital visits, severe medical treatments and emotional hurdles.

Unlike the traditional annual recital that primarily features group performances, this event highlights the individual stories and unique journeys of each dancer, emphasizing the importance of community and giving.

The MainStreet Dance Company, intends to rally the community not only to celebrate Kenzie and her journey but to provide support for her future.

All proceeds from the showcase will go directly toward medical expenses and educational support, as she has been unable to attend school since September.

Audience members can look forward to a diverse 90-minute program that showcases various engaging dance styles, each accompanied by a brief introduction that narrates its story.

Tickets will be available at the door for a donation of $5. In addition to purchasing tickets, attendees are encouraged to make donations in the lobby to support Kenzie and her family with their medical expenses.

Starting at $2.99/week.
