College Fair set for Sept. 17
JOHNSTOWN -- The 22nd annual Cambria County College Fair will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, inside the main gym of the Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Richland campus.
Hosted and sponsored by Pennsylvania Highlands, this event welcomes students, parents and the general public interested in advancing their education or trade skills.
"This is a great opportunity for local high school juniors and seniors, plus anyone looking to find a new school or career, to come and see what is available," said Hannah Ross, admissions specialist at Pennsylvania Highlands.
"There will be vendors to talk to, with a variety of representatives coming from outside of the state. There will be many chances to gain knowledge from different perspectives."
More than 50 representatives are scheduled to appear, including four-year universities, technical schools, business colleges, cosmetology schools and universities, branches of the military, local businesses and more.
This gives everyone who attends the opportunity to find and discover the many educational and career opportunities that are right in their own backyard.
The representatives will be on-hand to meet with and assist guests regarding their educational and career needs.
The fair's mission is to promote higher education and future opportunities to high school students and their families and the public.

Juniata announces events
HUNTINGDON -- Juniata College will host a series of free events this September that are open to the public.
This month at Juniata:
n "Decision 2024: Red Dawn or Blue Skies" presented by Henry Olsen, senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C., at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in Neff Lecture Hall, von Liebig Center for Science. Sponsored by the Department of Politics.
n "Power Lines: Hydroelectricity, Indigenous Histories, and You" presented by James Rice, professor of history at Tufts University, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, in Neff Lecture Hall, von Liebig Center for Science. This is the Delbert McQuaide Lectureship in History sponsored by the Department of History.
n "Antique Mexican Masks and Figures from the Althouse Collection," an exhibit celebrating Hispanic culture with an exceptional exhibition of antique masks and carved figures from Mexico. Opening on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Juniata College Museum of Art and on display through Saturday, Dec. 7. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, with comments by the collector, Stephen Althouse, at 5:30 p.m.
n A mask-making activity will be held during Art Walk Huntingdon from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Juniata College Museum of Art.
