Tyrone FFA Chapter recognized for service project

The Tyrone Area FFA Chapter has been honored for its exceptional service project in the state.
With a focus on community service, the Pennsylvania FFA Association aims to inspire its more than 15,777 members through the motto "learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, living to serve."
In a March announcement, a statewide community service challenge was extended to all FFA chapters.
Nora Hoy, the chapter president for 2024-25, expressed pride in the dedication of the chapter's 62 in-school members who collectively contributed 849 hours of community service during the 2023-24 school year.
The project submitted by the Tyrone Area FFA Chapter, the Farmers Care Product Drive, provided support to the Ronald McDonald House of Hershey.
Led by a committee of ninth-grade FFA members, the initiative aimed to raise awareness about the significance of local agriculture and its vital role
in society.
In early February, Joe Diamond, the regional organization director, engaged the students in discussions about the impactful work of the PA Farm Bureau (PFB) in supporting farmers at local and national levels.
Through interactive sessions, FFA members gained insights into diverse career opportunities in agriculture, fueling their passion for the field.
Motivated by this knowledge, FFA members embraced The Farmers Care program, supported by the PFB Women's Leadership Committee, which encouraged counties to acknowledge the dedication of farm families in providing nutritious food to their communities.
The collaborative efforts of the 31 Tyrone Area FFA members led to a remarkable collection of more than 1,400 pounds of food, products and monetary contributions within less than two weeks.
The donations were delivered on March 8, marking a significant milestone in their community service endeavors.
