Alpha Beta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society met on Aug. 1 at the East St. Clair Township Building in New Paris, where the retired educators in the chapter provided a meal for the active teachers.

Projects Chair Linda Clapper encouraged the group to participate in completing 23 We Care Bags this fall to replenish supplies distributed in the previous school year by local schools to students in crisis.

Becky Johnen shared highlights from International Convention, where she coordinated on-sight registration. State President Royce Boyd also shared her experience at the convention, where she served as the convention coordinator.

Becky Johnen and Arlene Fuller distributed copies of the updated pictorial directory.

Following the meal and the regular monthly meeting, the projects committee directed the members to fill 22 backpacks for clients of Bedford County Children and Youth. Stan Howes, President of the Bedford County Children and Youth Board, helped the group fill the backpacks along with Jacki Fredericks, Board Secretary.

The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 17 at Hoss's Steak and Sea House in Bedford.
