Hollidaysburg library schedules August programs
HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Hollidaysburg Area Public Library has announced its activities for August.
n Canasta and Mah Jongg games are held at 11 a.m. Mondays. Beginners are welcome.
n Maker Mondays are held all day Mondays in the Children’s Room. A station will be set up with a different craft, challenge or activity each week.
n Needlework & Arts Group is held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Take your own materials and projects for this crafting club intended for adults.
n Storytime and Craft will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays in August. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
n Twisted Stitchers meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Take your own project, yarn and hooks and spend time with other crafters.
n Lego Club meets from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays. Bring your imagination, the library will supply the Legos. The club is intended for school-aged children.
n StoryWalk in Hollidaysburg is every day from May 27 through Sept. 2. This is a fun, free, family-friendly self-guided walk. Read “Explorers of the Wild” by Cale Atkinson while you stroll through Hollidaysburg. Finish your walk at the library and earn a free book. Visit www

n The Inspirational Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8. This month’s book selection is “Sisters, Ink” by Rebecca Seitz. A limited number of copies of the book are available at the library.
n The Women Writers Book Club will meet at
6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21. This month’s book is “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot.
n Paws to Read will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. Meet and read to pets from the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society. Children ages 5 and older are welcome with their caregivers.
n The “Election Selection” Summer Book Club will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, to discuss “All the King’s Men” by Robert Penn Warren. All are welcome.
n “Blair County: A People’s History”will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 29, in the library’s Community Room. This 90-minute documentary film, which tells the story of Blair County’s first 150 years, is directed by Mark Frederick; screenplay is by Jared Frederick; and Julia Plummer is executive producer. This film originally premiered in April at the Mishler Theatre.
n Book Bucks earned during the Children’s Summer Reading program may be redeemed through the month of August, while supplies last.
n Hollidaysburg Heritage Guided Tours will be offered at 12:15 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 14 and Oct. 19. There are three tours offered each date, with an option for brunch at the U.S. Hotel. HHGTours is also offering a tour of the historic Highland Hall complex, highlighting the building’s history, architecture, and uses over the years, at 10 a.m. and
