Trinity United Methodist Church in Roaring Spring will celebrate its 125th anniversary in the current building on Sunday, Feb. 11.
The congregation's origin dates back to 1830 in Rodman and in 1867, a new structure was built on North Main Street, which was used for 31 years until it was sold to the Roaring Spring Mennonite Church.
The church's present location, at 434 E. Main St., was dedicated on Nov. 29, 1898.
The anniversary Sunday celebration will take place with worship at 9:30 a.m., led by Pastor Ryan Gephart. He will be joined by several former pastors and also a number of sons and daughters of the church who entered into ministry. Altoona District Conference Superintendent, the Rev. Dr. Joleen Willis, will also assist in the service.
The morning message will be given by special guest, Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball of the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church.
The congregation at Trinity are looking forward to a time of reminiscing and celebrating their past, and joyously looking toward their future ministry. Trinity UMC is well-known in the area for the many free meals it serves to local residents, and for hosting a free summer lunch program for children during the months when school is out of session.
