Robert W. Boyer, president of the Altoona Chamber of Commerce, announced that Frank E. Ayers of Puritan Sportswear would be chairman of the Industrial Fair to be held at the Jaffa Mosque with the theme "A Showcase for Free Enterprise."

25 years ago: Feb. 1, 1999

Giant Eagle employee Tina Statsky, Shirley's Cookie Co., Walmart at Plank Road Commons, Fiore's Country Garden Market and the Salvation Army Rehab Center were to be honored at the sixth annual C.A.R.E. Council Awards (Committed to Achieving Real Employment) at Park Hills Country Club for employing the handicapped.

10 years ago: Feb. 1, 2014

Daniel Ellsberg, who made worldwide news in 1971 while a strategic analyst for the RAND Corp. by releasing secret government study of the Vietnam War to the media, was a guest speaker at Juniata College, Huntingdon.
