50 years ago: Oct. 16, 1973

The Altoona Area Vocational Technical School, Daniel A. Clark director, was to start producing identification cards for its students and the students at Altoona Area High. The cost was estimated at about $1,700.

25 years ago: Oct. 16, 1998

Altoona City Council was considering an ordinance that would require landlords to register the name, age and address of their tenants twice a year with a fine of $600 for failure to comply.

10 years ago: Oct. 16, 2013

The Blair/Clearfield Association for the Blind held a Fall Fun Day at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg in which people were blindfolded and worked their way through an obstacle course, mostly cardboard boxes.
