The Portage Public Library will offer a STEM Program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade four times per month from Sept. 2 through May 20.
STEM instructional tools and toys such as Sphero, Botley, Cubettos, iRoot and Osmo will be utilized from the IU8's lending library provided by funding from the CSB2 STEM Ecosystem and Library state aid.
The materials will be available for students to explore through a structured program.
"Students exploring the materials allows learning that promotes curiosity, creativity, artistic expression, collaboration, communication, problem solving, critical thinking and design thinking," said Shelby Smith, Portage Public Library board member who is leading the programs with fellow board member Rita Kalwasinski.
How to participate:
The program is free and open to any child to join but is limited to one sign-up per month. A guardian must be present with the child during the program. You can sign up either by calling the
library at 814-736-4340 or by completing the online form at https://forms.office.com/r/jzcHdpVmHx.
