50 years ago: 1973

Dr. Leonard Bachman, Pennsylvania Health Services Director, was one of about 50 officials who met at the Altoona Vo-Tech to decide

what to do with the $6.5 million Altoona Restoration Center at Fourth Street and Lexington Avenue.

25 years ago: 1998

The Greenwood Neighborhood Watch Group, Jerry Fulare captain, was hosting a meeting at Altoona Area High School to teach adults about the dangers of drugs, assisted by the Altoona Hospital drug and alcohol services, Ken Healy prevention coordinator.

10 years ago: 2013

The 88th annual Sunday School Union Picnic was held at DelGrosso Park with about 20 different African American churches participating, including Mount Zion Missionary Baptist and Mother Gethsemane Churches in Altoona.
