Earlier this year, with the help of its customers, the Altoona Save A Lot presented 1,117 bags -- more than $6,700 worth -- of food to the Mountain Lion BackPack Program. Taking part in the presentation are (from left): Billie Egan, program director for the Mountain Lion Backpack Program; Ed Griesel, Save A Lot store manager; Kim Kruise, Save A Lot customer service specialist; and David Aboud, Mountain Lion Backpack Program. Throughout the holiday season, Save A Lot customers across the country showed their support for their local communities by purchasing pre-assembled bags of food that were donated to local and regional charitable organizations. Save A Lot also donated an additional dollar for each bag sold, gifting a grand total of more than $7,819 worth of food and financial contributions to Mountain Lion BackPack Program. The Bags for a Brighter Holiday program ran from November through the end of December, with customers donating to this effort at their local Save A Lot.
