This picture of Roaring Spring Borough Council was taken in late 1914 or 1915 after the appointment of John Cramer to replace Aaron Albright, council president, who had passed away from typhoid fever. Shown are (from left): seated -- William Carper, JW Curfman, John Johnson, John I. Cramer, Fred Garner and JW (Jacob Wallace) Weidenhamer; standing -- Grant Burns and Thad M. Quarry. Seated in the rear is Albert Albright, street commissioner. The photo was submitted by Victor Curfman of Altoona, formerly of Roaring Spring. JW (John Wesley) Curfman was his great-great-grandfather. He was the longtime borough secretary, water system superintendent, tax assessor and building inspector. He also was a longtime teacher, spending more than 40 years teaching in Blair County of which most was in Roaring Spring.
