Roxie A. (Harris) Thomas
Roxie A. (Harris) Thomas of Altoona will celebrate her 100th birthday on Sunday.
Roxie is the last of her immediate family; the youngest of 11.
Her family, seeking more work opportunities, came to Altoona from North Carolina, and Roxie was the only one born in Pennsylvania.
She was born May 21, 1923, on Plank Road, Altoona, where the family was staying with relatives.
She married Mahersal "Bonnie" Thomas on June 15, 1946.
He died Sept. 8, 2020.
Her son, Dwayne B. Thomas, lives in Orangeville, Calif., with his wife, Sharron "Sharie."
She also has two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roxie is a lifetime member and oldest member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Altoona.
