Festival in the Shade slated this weekend
NEWRY — St. Patrick’s annual Festival in the Shade will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, and Saturday, Aug. 13, and 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at the parish grounds, 704 Patrick Lane.
The event will include ethnic foods, baked goods, games, craft sale, quilt sale, prizes, bingo and raffles, as well as free outdoor entertainment. The flea market will be open throughout the event.
Friday will include Tim Klock chainsaw carving from
5 to 6:30 p.m. and entertainment by Stephanie and the Wild Hearts from 7 to 10 p.m.
Saturday will include Harmony Safari roaming the grounds from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Ricky Lee from 7 to 10 p.m.
Sunday will include the Horseshoe Cloggers from 3 to 4 p.m., Uptown Jazz from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and raffle drawings starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by the 50-50 drawing at 7 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
Remembering ADAM event set Aug. 29
EBENSBURG — Remembering ADAM will host an event to celebrate 23 years of nonprofit service at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at Amici’s Restaurant in Ebensburg.
Remembering ADAM has provided substance abuse prevention education to schools, communities and families over the years, with a strong emphasis on students in grades six through 12.
Remembering ADAM developed Pledge Together, a program that has reached thousands of students over the years. Each student pledges to be drug-free and the successful results of this program have been proven throughout the years.
The group will host a private viewing of the virtual murder mystery, “Murder at the Pour on Center.”
Remembering ADAM wrote the script and VEM produced the production, which was filmed at the Pour On Center. Local actors volunteered their time to create this product. The murder mystery will be released virtually in the next few weeks.
Artists needed to Art Walk Sept. 16
HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Hollidaysburg Area Arts Council will sponsor a self-guided Art Walk from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 during Third in the Burg.
The Art Walk is a free and family-friendly event and starts at Picture Perfect Gallery, 309 Allegheny St.,
Suite 3, where participants can pick up a map for artwork, artists, music, gardens, murals and shopping.
The event is rain or shine.
The arts council is seeking artists interested in displaying their work in the windows of local businesses and also artists who may be interested in providing a demonstration of their technique.
